My next networking post will be out soon, but in the mean time I felt like writing about something else I like to do in my spare time. As the picture below suggests, I am a guitarist. I’ve been playing since I was about 9 years old (a long time). My first guitar was one I had to build myself from various parts given to me from a childhood friend. Most parts didn’t even fit together very well, but I was determined to learn how to play. See, I come from a family who could play some sort of instrument. So naturally, I was inclined to make music myself. My mother, aunts and grandmother played piano. My grandfather played bass guitar, regular (6 string) guitar and banjo. He played in a country band and was very talented. It was he that gave me my only few guitar lessons.
The Gibson Les Paul Custom is by far my favorite guitar. This guitar was a gift from my beautiful wife while we were in college. What an unbelievable gift, huh? I have to tell you though, it is a bit heavy. Standing on stage with that guitar strapped to you for a few hours can wear you down, but the tone is well worth it. Of all the guitars I’ve played, it has by far the smoothest sound. To date, this Les Paul Custom is about 10 years old and still looks and sounds perfect. I don’t think Gibson is making the “Custom” models at the moment, but if you can get your hands on one, it is well worth it.
